                   Book Description

They say you can never go home. Well, Lacie Joe Jensen never wanted to.

Lacie Joe left small town Kentucky for the big city lights and never looked back. Until now. Her ailing foster-father needs her, his memory is failing. But townsfolk remember all too well the troubles Lacie Joe caused as a youth, and they're not afraid to remind her.

Lacie Joe has a few allies in town, for starters, ex-boyfriend turned police officer Jay Hayworth. Jay's kept the fire burning for Lacie during her long absence. He's one of the bright spots in Lacie's troublesome past, him and her truck, Big Orange. A suspicious accident forced Lacie Joe to leave town, Jay steps in to remind Lacie she no longer has the right to remain silent.

My review

Lacie-Joe was abandoned as a child and then was transferred from foster home to foster home. As she grew older, she became quite the troubled and hard to handle teen and many of the transfers were due to things she'd actually done herself. When things really started looking bad and it looked as if she might not have any other options, Judge gave her one last chance at a foster home, and here she finally began to flourish.

Jay and Lacie were an item as teens. But when the unspeakable happens, Lacie takes off without a word to anyone and swears to herself that she will never return to the small town of Kentucky.

Now, all grown up, Lacie is nothing like the trouble-maker she was when she was younger. In fact, she in now a social worker who actually saves troubled teens. I like the irony that was played there! Suddenly Lacie gets word that her foster father, Judge is failing in health and asked to return and take care of him. As much as she has always promised herself that she'd never return, it's not even a question when she finds out that Judge needs her.

Right off the bat, when returning to Kentucky, she is put right smack back into the middle of what she left behind; her uncomfortable past and the unexplained and precipitated way she left. She is pulled over and is surprised when the cop who appears at the window is her ex, Jay! While he is telling her that his partner is back in the car running her information and that she has some unpaid traffic tickets to deal with, she is even more surprised when she glances at his wrist and sees that he is still wearing the bracelet that she gave his as a high school graduation present. I just thought this was such a sweet and romantic gesture for the author to add into the book.

Once back in town, Jay is determined to have her again. You can tell that she is still attracted to him and has feelings for him as well, but she knows that she wronged him and many others and feels so bad about it. She also has an overwhelming need to make it right with everyone, now that she is back.

Lacie and Jay both decide to try to forget and overcome the past, and make things work this second time around, but they have many  obstacles thrown in their way. It won't be easy, but as I like to tell my children, nothing worth it ever is!

I loved this story. The characters are so believable, the author deserves much praise for this feat. Lacie is such a strong and altruistic person that you can't help but love her.   This story brought me back to my own youth since I grew up on a farm, I loved that the setting of the story was on a horse farm.

I would definitely recommend this story to anyone who loves a good romance that has just the right amount of humor and suspense mixed into it.

Ode to Bloggers…

Thank you to 4 the Luv of Sanity for hosting me today. I’ve hit the virtual trails to promote For the Love of Big Orange and I couldn’t do it without bloggers like you.

With brick and mortar book stores becoming more and more extinct, it’s increasingly more important for anyone in the sales and marketing biz to have a social presence. Enter the bloggers…

Bloggers and readers who frequent blogs are virtually everywhere on the internet. Instead of the cozy setting of a coffee shop where authors might hang out and share a cup of joe while chatting about our work, you open your virtual doors and let us come right in and speak to audiences you have formed relationships with.

I’m just getting started with this aspect, but two things have been immediately clear. First, most bloggers are friendly individuals who enjoy a great read and sharing their experiences with others. And secondly, bloggers are just as busy as readers!

I appreciate the work it takes to read and review a book, create a blog post, post badges on a blog/websites, update sites with reviews like Amazon, Goodreads, etc. and share news about any giveaways.

In this ever changing world full of fast-paced media, authors need ways to be inventive and discover new ways to connect with readers. I’m truly thankful for bloggers and the role they play in the success of authors connecting their work with a potential audience. And for that, I am truly grateful.
