Literally Dead ebook free this weekend...

In the midst of the Great Depression, one man must do battle against
corruption with nothing but his wits and a host of great literary
figures…

Amos Jansen is merely a clerk. He is not a crime fighter, the next
great writer, or a man of privilege. He is the humble employee of a
Chicago literary society. That is, until he is arrested for murder.

The scapegoat of a perfidious lieutenant, Jansen stands wrongly accused
while his idols rally around him. Literary personalities the likes of
Ernest Hemingway, Carl Sandburg, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Nelson Algren,
and H.L. Mencken, as well as civil liberties war-horse Clarence Darrow,
join Amos in his search for the real murderer of both the society's
vice-chairman and his own father.

Will the pen prove mightier than the sword? Will mercenary police,
politicians and money-barons meet with justice? Or will Jansen fail to
solve the mystery and wind up literally dead?

 Vengeance Thwarted

This weekend (starting tomorrow and ending Saturday night), 'Vengeance
Thwarted', the first novel in Prue Phillipson's Restoration trilogy 'The
Hordens of Horden Hall', will be available as a free download in the
Amazon Kindle store.

Here is the book blurb:

What if the one you love is also the one you are sworn to kill?

Northumberland, 1640. Arabella 'Bel' Horden is a mischievous,
pugnacious thirteen-year-old. The youngest daughter of a Northumbrian
squire and magistrate, she is wracked by guilt after a careless haystack
fire leads to the wrongful hanging of an English army deserter. Sent to
boarding school in Yorkshire after another unbecoming act of
disobedience, Bel blossoms into a beautiful and quick-witted young
woman. Nathaniel 'Nat' Wilson is ill with fever when his twin brother,
Daniel, is falsely accused and hung for the fire started by Bel.
Accursed by his mother for the tragedy, he is reluctantly sworn to
vengeance against the Horden family. A peace-loving boy, Nat temporarily
escapes his mother's maddened demands through pursuit of his studies in
Cambridge. Years after the violence that first juxtaposed their lives,
Bel and Nat's paths finally cross when Nat arrives in Northumberland to
discover what he can of the Horden family and their role in his
brother's unfortunate death. As a second Scots invasion sends the land
into chaos, will love triumph as vengeance is thwarted?

HalloweenCostumes.com review...

Recently my son and I had the opportunity to review a costume from HalloweenCostumes.com.
My son chose the Batman costume and has been fighting crime ever since.
These costumes aren't just for Halloween. What kid doesn't like to play dress-up?
Remember back to when you were a kid? My grandma always kept a chest full of costumes for us to play with. I think it's so good when the kids use their imaginations and really play.
These days there are just to many electronics out there, some kids forget how to really have fun.

Kids Deluxe Dark Knight Batman Costume

Here are some other great costumes they offer:

Princess Red Riding Hood Costume      Toddler Sequin Dorothy Costume

Deluxe Spot Splatter Splash Costume

Toddler Lil Lobster Costume      Teen Jack Sparrow Costume

What are you waiting for?
Hurry to HalloweenCostumes.com and order up your child some fun.

Under the Overpass book review...

                                Under the Overpass:
A Journey of Faith in the Streets of America

Ever Wonder What it Would Be Like to Live Homeless?
Mike Yankoski did more than just wonder. By his own choice, Mike's life went from upper-middle class plush to scum-of-the-earth repulsive overnight. With only a backpack, a sleeping bag and a guitar, Mike and his traveling companion, Sam, set out to experience life on the streets in six different cities—from Washington D.C. to San Diego— and they put themselves to the test.
For more than five months the pair experienced firsthand the extreme pains of hunger, the constant uncertainty and danger of living on the streets, exhaustion, depression, and social rejection—and all of this by their own choice. They wanted to find out if their faith was real, if they could actually be the Christians they said they were apart from the comforts they’d always known…to discover first hand what it means to be homeless in America.
Mike and Sam's story is gritty, challenging, and utterly captivating. What you encounter in these pages will radically alter how you see your world—and may even change your life.

My review:

Mike decides to become a Christian and live as a homeless man for five months during 2003.
He literally lives with the homeless people for that long. He finds Sam who decides to also
go along for the ride to help make sure that Mike is safe.

This book is a very emotional read. Mike and Sam experience many not so good days in this five
month period. They actually have to pan handle and eat old rotten food to survive. They live the entire five months off of charity, which they don't always receive. Many times they aren't given what they
need or ask for and are even thrown out of churches.

About the author:

Mike and his wife Danae live in Vancouver, B.C. with their dog, Elliott, and are both studying for their Masters of Christian Studies (MCS) degrees at Regent College. Their passions include backpacking, hiking, running, tea, growing veggies, good books, and connecting with people of all sorts. Mike serves on the board of directors for World Vision US and the board of advisers for Kilns College. He and Danae have also  released a book called Zealous Love: A Practical Guide to Social Justice.

Each day is a specific task, they don't take long to read and they leave you really thinking.
While he was reading it he said he thought that

Splash' N Boots review and giveaway...

Recently we got to review Act 2 of The Splash' N Boots Show.
Since I wasn't familiar with them I didn't realize that Splash is the guy and Boots is the girl.
My son must have seen it before, because he knew exactly who they were, lol.
But it never surprises me when my kids know more than I do on any subject.

This video includes over 50 minutes of music videos and special features.
My son and two nieces watched this and loved it. They were dancing all around the room.
Your kids will love it to.

Eraselets review and giveaway...

Eraselets are bracelet erasers.
And my son loves them!!

We were recently given a full pack of Eracelets to review and enjoy.
I kind of thought my son might want to share them with a couple of his friends.
But, being the character that he is, he chooses to match them and wear them according to his outfit that day.
He says his friends think they are so cool,
he was nice enough to share them and let his friends try them out, but he won't come off of them for good.
Kids!!! LOL.

At $4.95 a pack, these are a steal.
Wait till you see all the adorable styles they have to choose from.
They also have some singles that they offer for only $1.00
Skull & Bones

Eraselets really are the cutest thing I've seen in a long time.
